Product Overview The imageRUNNER ADVANCE 400iF and 500iF are the latest small-to-medium sized MFPs with Canon’s imageRUNNER ADVANCE platform. Both machines offer standard printing, copying, scanning, and faxing. The 400iF ($4,200) copies and prints at up to 42ppm, while the 500iF ($5,250) runs at speed of 52ppm. Other than speed and price, both machines offer identical features.

Warm-up time is a quick 34 seconds once you turn the device on, and first copy time is a very good 5 seconds. There is a 7″ touchscreen control panel with a screen that you can slide and tilt for easy access. There are also two menus, including the “Quick Menu” interface. The control panel makes it easy to program custom workflows by user (for example, scanning to specific folders for different clients). Each user or group can have its own set of functions and shortcuts enabled. There is also a tutorial button on the machine, so users who need guidance in performing certain functions can receive step-by-step instructions on the screen. These models come with an 80GB hard disk drive.

Standard memory is 1.5GB, which is not expandable. Ethernet and USB interfaces are standard. Wi-Fi is optional. A host USB port for scanning to and printing from flash drives is standard. Another USB port can be used for connecting a device, such as a keyboard. These machines also are compatible with Canon’s Managed Document Services, especially if you have more than one Canon machines at your site.
